2004 Turk Kevin Koski Receives Honor

Baseball Places Four On 2005 MVC Scholar-Athlete Team Finigan, Koski, Emrick And Snyder Earn Scholar-Athlete Accolades By Jeff Honza www.SIUSalukis.com CARBONDALE, Ill. – Senior P.J. Finigan, sophomore Kevin Koski and juniors Nathan Emrick and Adam Snyder were named to the 2005 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Baseball Team, announced today by the league office. Finigan and Koski were first-team selections, while Emrick and Snyder repeated as honorable mention picks. A native of Springfield, Ill., Finigan graduated with a 3.32 GPA in Business Management. He was named the 2005 Joe Carter MVC Player of the Year, first-team all-MVC as both a shortstop and starting pitcher and was recently drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the seventh round of this year’s Major League Baseball Draft. Koski, one of 11 members on this year’s CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Baseball Team, boasts a 3.66 GPA in Physical Education. Also a first-team all-MVC pick, he ranked second in the conference with a .380 batting average as one of the Valley’s best leadoff hitters. Emrick and Snyder were tabbed honorable mention for the second year in a row. A native of Griggsville, Ill., Emrick holds a 3.22 GPA as a History major, while Snyder, who hails from Pittsburgh, Pa., has a 3.51 GPA in Marketing. Emrick was also voted honorable mention all-MVC in 2005. In all, 29 MVC baseball student-athletes received recognition for their athletic and academic achievement.
