Harrisonburg’s Offense Explodes For 19 Hits

New Market, Va., June 18, 2005- Sophomore center fielder Scott Cousins (San Francisco) went 4-for-5 for the second straight night while sophomore shortstop Brett Munster (California) went 4-for-4 to help lead Harrisonburg to a 7-4 victory over New Market on Saturday Night. With the win, the Turks have won four straight improving to 8-6 on the season, while New Market fell to 10-4. Harrisonburg pounded New Markets pitching, notching out 19 hits off of the Rebels. The Turks did leave 11 runners stranded on base. Freshman second baseman Tony Thomas (Florida State) went 2-for-5, sophomore right fielder Lucas Delong (San Francisco) went 2-for-4, and sophomore first baseman Clint Robinson (Troy) went 2-for-5 to help Harrisonburg. Michael Cooper (California) went seven innings allowing four runs off of six hits and struck out six to pick up his first win of the summer. With the win Cooper improves to 1-1. Jeff Carroll (Ohio State) pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to earn his first save of the year. Kenny McGrady suffered the loss, while pitching only four innings allowing seven runs off of 13 hits.
