Valley Baseball League News As the regular season winds down, all 10 Valley Baseball League teams are jockeying for position for the 2005 playoffs. The battle for the Jim Lineweaver Trophy, awarded annually to the VBL champion, will begin immediately following the last regular season game. As of July 21, the final game will be Friday, July 29 and the First Round of the playoffs will begin Saturday, July 30. First Round pairings will feature four three-game series. The highest seed in each division will square off with the fourth seed in the same division while the second and third seeds will play each other. Games one and three will be hosted by the higher seeded team. In the Second Round, winners in each division will battle for their respective Division Championship in a best of three series for the right to move on to the Valley League Championship Round. In the second round, games one and three will again be hosted by the higher seed. The Championship Round will be a best of five format with the team with the best record hosting games one, three, and five. Each round will begin immediately upon the completion of the previous round.
