12/12/05 – Turks Tidbits

The Valley Baseball League has released their 2006 schedule. The 10 team VBL will play a 42 game schedule; 1-1 intra-division and 4-4 inter-division games. The playoffs will consist of the top four teams in each division. The semi-finals format will be a best two out of three series with 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3. Winners play for the Division Championship. The North and South Divisional Champions play a three out of five series for the Jim Lineweaver Cup. We look forward to another exciting summer of quality collegiate baseball. Make your plans now to come to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and visit all ten teams in their quaint localities. Visit their Tourism Bureaus or Chamber of Commerce web sites to make sure you don’t miss out on any of the local attractions. Don’t forget to ask each team for their list of sponsors that offer discount lodging to players’ families. The Turks open the season in Staunton against the Braves on Friday, June 2nd and then return home on Saturday, June 3rd again the Covington Lumberjacks.
