List Honors Top Performers From the Regular Season San Francisco, CA) – Junior LHP/outfielder Scott Cousins was named to the College Baseball Foundation’s All-America Team for his 2006 regular season performance. Cousins, one of 29 players from around the nation to receive the honor, helped the Dons to their first ever National ranking and NCAA Regional berth. As the Dons’ Friday starter, the Reno, NV native has a 4-2 record with a 3.03 ERA and a 53/16 strikeout/walk ratio. Cousins has thrown 74.1 innings in his 12 appearances with 10 starts. In one impressive stretch, Cousins won three consecutive games (at Oral Roberts 3/25; at Santa Clara 4/1; and at Pepperdine 4/7) including a complete game at SCU. Cousins posted a sparkling 3-2 record with a 2.25 ERA during West Coast Conference play, highlighted by a strong outing 6-3 victory at No. 22 Pepperdine (4/7). Cousins went 8.0 innings, allowing three runs (one earned) off seven hits and struck out six Waves. On Friday, Cousins earned a no-decision in USF’s game one win over Pepperdine in the West Coast Conference Championship Series. The WCC Player of the Year threw 7.2 innings, allowing six runs off 10 hits and struck out four. At the plate, he had four hits, an RBI and a run scored for the weekend. At the plate, the junior has been magnificent, leading the team with a .357 batting average, 80 hits, 51 runs, and 21 stolen bases. Cousins ranks second in RBI (45), walks (29), and multi-RBI games (14). The College Baseball Foundation is dedicated to preserving college baseball history and to recognizing standout teams and individuals who have influenced the collegiate game. Established as a 501(c)(3) charitable educational organization, the CBF hopes to not only catalog the sports’ history within its’ newly announced College Baseball Hall of Fame, but to provide an aggressive and enduring advocacy for the college game.
