Valley League Weekly Honors Southern Division Waynesboro’s Levi Maxwell (Shinnston, W.Va.) claimed Southern Division Pitcher of the Week honors after helping the Generals to a 5-2 week in which they took over the best overall record in the league. The West Virginia University right-hander was the only VBL pitcher to go 2-0 for the week, allowing two runs, one earned, in 10 and one-third innings. He struck out 12 and held opponents to a .195 batting average. Fellow General Adam Vrable (Bay City, Mich.) garnered Southern Division Player of the Week honors. The junior infielder from Coastal Carolina University hit .320 with eight hits, including a home run, as well as seven runs, three RBIs, a .440 slugging percentage, and .433 on-base percentage. He went 9-for-10 on stolen base attempts to lead the league in both steals and attempts for the week. His seven runs also shared the league lead. Northern Division Haymarket’s Michael Tollison (Batesburg, S.C.) battered Valley League pitching last week to earn Northern Division Player of the Week honors. The Florence-Darlington Tech product led the league with 13 hits, a .957 slugging percentage, 22 total bases, two home runs, and seven runs scored. He was also second in the VBL with a .643 on-base percentage and added three doubles, six runs driven in, and four walks. The sophomore first baseman helped Haymarket to a 4-2 mark for the week. For the season, he leads the league in batting average, hits, home runs, runs scored, total bases, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. Northern Division Pitcher of the Week honors were shared by two players, Luray’s Dusty Davis (Morton, Miss.) and Haymarket’s Clay Horn (Culpeper,Va.). Davis, a member of the Memphis Tigers, went 1-0 with seven shutout innings for the Wranglers last week. He struck out five, allowed four hits, and held opponents to a .174 batting average. Horn, who just finished his junior season at Longwood,also went 1-0 and compiled a 0.00 ERA with eight strikeouts and four hits in six innings. He allowed two unearned runs and held opponents to a .167 batting average.
