’06 Turk, Ryan Rachel wins SAC Player of the Week Again

OCU sweeps weekly SAC baseball awards Ryan Rachal was an honorable-mention NAIA all-American last year. OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University’s Matt Delmas has been selected Sooner Athletic Conference baseball pitcher of the week, while OCU’s Ryan Rachal was SAC player of the week. Delmas, a senior pitcher from Oklahoma City, held 18th-ranked Houston Baptist to one run on three hits through seven innings Saturday, taking 107 pitches to do it. The 6-foot-4 right-hander recorded 10 strikeouts in going to 4-0 on the year and securing a 3-1 series win for OCU. For the year, Delmas has a 2.11 earned run average. Delmas has 25 strikeouts in 21 innings while allowing only seven hits. Rachal, a senior outfielder from Norman, Okla., won the weekly award for the second time this season. Rachal hit .538 with three doubles, a triple, six RBIs and a .923 slugging percentage in the four-game series against Houston Baptist. For the year, Rachal is hitting .455 with three home runs, 26 RBIs and five stolen bases. The Stars, ranked fourth in NAIA, take on Newman (Kan.) at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Wichita, Kan. OCU is 18-3.
