Braves Fight Back and Beat Turks 4-3

06/29/2008 – Turks Tidbits

Written By Andy Mays, Broadcasting Intern Bridgewater College Harrisonburg- The Harrisonburg Turks were pitching themselves out of jam all game, but could not finish off the Staunton Braves, losing 4-3. The Braves Shawn Kale (Central Florida C.C.) started the game, but was taken out after giving up a three-run homer to Michael Precise (Troy). Precise knocked the only Turks’ runs in the game going 1 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs. Justin Dignelli (George Washington) came in for Kale in the third inning and pitched three solid innings recording five strikeouts and allowing one hit. The Braves scored one run in the fourth inning off an error, but got their bats moving in the fifth inning recording three hits and scoring one run off a Stephen Branca (Central Florida) single. Branca went 2 for 4 with two singles and one RBI. In the seventh inning, the Turks seemed to be pitching their way to a win, but two consecutive throwing errors scored two runs to put the Braves up 4-3. Josh Squatrito (Towson) closed out the ninth inning striking out two and recording his second save of the season. The Harrisonburg Turks (8-15) have tomorrow off and will host the Woodstock River Bandits (10-13) on July 1 while the Staunton Braves (11-13) host Haymarket tomorrow.
