Garrett Parker Named Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week

OKLAHOMA CITY – Garrett Parker of Oklahoma City University took Sooner Athletic Conference baseball pitcher of the week for March 30-April 5. Parker, a junior from Duncanville, Texas, went 2-0 for the week with wins over St. Gregory’s and Oklahoma Baptist, keeping an earned run average of 2.25. He fanned 13 in eight innings and allowed six hits and three walks. For the year, Parker has gone 6-0 with a 2.88 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 50 innings. Parker, a TURKS alumni, had a 2.86 ERA with 52 strikeouts in 66 innings during the 2008 season. He was selected for the Valley Baseball League All Star team. Parker also made his presence felt in 2007 for the Turks. He was named to the Valley League All Star Team and the All Valley League Team. Garrett finished 2-1 with a 0.84 ERA, 23 SO, eight walks, and eight saves in 21 1/3 innings. He did not allow a run until the postseason and ranks fifth in the league in saves.
