Bethune Cookman Athletic News Written by Emily Sousa James Madison University Intern The MEAC Conference announced its weekly baseball honors on Tuesday and named Bethune Cookman Wildcat freshman left hander Ali Simpson – Rookie of the Week. Simpson, a 6-2, LHP from Campbell River, British Columbia -earned his fourth win of the season vs. Norfolk State last Sunday. Simpson pitched seven innings and combined with three relievers for a 2-0 shutout win against the Spartans. He struck out six and allowed three hits in seven innings and is now 4-2 on the season, lowering his ERA to 2.79 in the contest. In 42 innings pitched in 2009 -Simpson has 46 K’s with a game-high of 10 strikeouts at North Carolina A&T (4/5/09). Simpson will be pitching for the Harrisonburg TURKS of the Valley Baseball League this summer.
