Luray,VA – On a day when our country is celebrating our amazing freedoms and liberties, the Harrisonburg Turks walked off Bull Dog Field with something of their own to celebrate, a dominating win over the Luray Wranglers, 10-0. LHP Ali Simpson (Bethune Cookman) was in complete control of the game for the first six innings, as he faced twenty-one batters recording eight strike outs, three walks and three hits. Brad Riddle (Oklahoma City U.) came in for two innings and continued to keep the Wranglers off balance with two strike outs and one hit. Jack Posey (Florida State U.) shut the door on the Wranglers hopes in the ninth inning with one strike out and one hit. The Turks offense came alive as nine Turks contributed. Jack Posey (3B/RHP/Florida State U.) was 2 for 5 with two home runs and three RBIs. Shaun Cooper (OF/U. of Arizona) was 2 for 5 with one home run, one RBI, and a double. Nathan Weglarz (OF/Saint Joseph College) was 2 for 5 with one home run and two RBIs. Thomas Nichols (2B/Georgia Tech U.) was 2 for 5 with a double and single. Garrett May (SS/E.Tennessee) was 1-1 with a home run and three RBIs. Mike Schwartz (DH/Tampa U.) was 1-3 with one home run. Parker Brunelle (C/Florida State U.) went 2-4, and Victor Croglio (SS/U. of Richmond) went 1-4 for the day. Ali Simpson recorded his second win of the season while Luray Wrangler LHP Andrew Armstrong (Ohio State) is now 1-1. The Turks will return home to JMU’s Long Field Mauck Stadium on Sunday, July 5th for a double header against the Fauquier Gators. They will play two seven inning games starting at 2:00 and 5:00.
