Woodstock , Va- The Turks were hoping to bounce back from a disappointing defeat yesterday, but that was not the case tonight as Woodstock cruised past them 10-3. The loss also means that their playoff hopes are quickly evaporating as the regular season is reaching its conclusion this week.

Woodstock got a great effort from their starting pitcher William Hudgins who went six innings, striking out seven Turk batters, and only giving up one run. Douglas Wagner pitched the last two innings of the game for Woodstock , and did not give up a run. In those two innings he pitched he struck out four Turk hitters, and did not give up a single hit.

Woodstock got to Drew Granier early in this contest as he went 4.2 innings giving up four earned runs, and suffered his first loss of the season dropping him to 5-1. He was relieved for Joey Munoz who went 2.1 innings and gave up three earned runs. Gabriel Grinder came in for Munoz and pitched a scoreless eighth inning.

Errors also cost the Turks in this game, as they let in three unearned runs on two errors. Two of those unearned runs came in the second and the other one in the fifth. Both of the errors were the result of poor throws.

The Turks got their three runs in this contest in the fifth and seventh innings. In the fifth Daniel Heatwole got things going with a base hit that was followed by another base hit by Raymond Quinones. Shaun Cooper then got an RBI double driving in Heatwole to make it 4-1 Woodstock . However, that was all the Turks got that inning as they stranded Quinones on third and Cooper on second failing on an opportunity to get back into the game.

In the seventh inning the Turks picked up two runs. One of the runs was driven in by Cooper giving him his second RBI on the night. The other run was driven in due to a balk by Cory Tilton. Quinones scored on the balk to make it 7-3 Woodstock .

Any hope of a comeback was dashed in the bottom of the seventh when Woodstock picked up three more runs. Michael Garza got an RBI single to make it 8-3, then Shawn Ablett dealt the final blow when he hit a two run home run to make it 10-3.

The Turks are back at home tomorrow for the final time this regular season at 5:00 fighting for their playoff lives as they take on the New Market Rebels, who look in good shape of making the playoffs. Come out and support the Turks tomorrow at Long Field Mauck Stadium to give them the support they need to help them win the game and stay alive in the playoff hunt.
