HARRISONBURG TURKS RELEASE 2010 BASEBALL SCHEDULE

Harrisonburg, VA – The Harrisonburg Turks, a proud member of the Valley Baseball League (VBL), officially releases its complete 2010 baseball schedule. The Turks open the 2010 season at their brand new facility at James Madison University’s Veteran Memorial Stadium baseball complex, located at 395 S. Main Street. The Turks will host the New Market Rebels on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 7:30 pm. In an effort to showcase the new VET, the Turks are planning a special Media Event prior to the game to kick off the Valley Baseball League season. Representatives from each of the 11 teams will be on hand to answer questions about their rosters and their outlook on the season. Tours of the stadium will be available. The rest of the league will start their season on Friday, June 4.

In other exciting news, the Turks will host the 2010 Valley Baseball League All Star Game on Sunday, July 11th. Details for the day will be provided at a later date.

The Valley Baseball League All Stars will compete again this year in the second, Mid-Atlantic Classic All-Star Game, as it did in 2009, against the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League, on Wednesday, July 14th, with a site yet to be determined. The Harrisonburg Turks are a member of the eleven-team, Valley Baseball League (VBL), a wooden bat summer league made up of student athletes from colleges and universities throughout the United States.

The VBL is basically located up and down the I-81 corridor, in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Other teams in the VBL are; Haymarket Senators, Front Royal Cardinals, Winchester Royals, Woodstock River Bandits, Luray Wranglers, New Market Rebels, Staunton Braves, Waynesboro Generals, Rockbridge Rapids, and the Covington Lumberjacks.

The VBL plays a 44 game schedule for eight weeks during the summer beginning Thursday, June 3rd and the last game on Monday, August 2nd. Playoff begin immediately after the regular season is over. The top eight teams qualify for the Playoffs. Quarter-final and Semi-final Rounds will be a Best of 3 Series. After the Quarter-final Round, teams will be reseeded for the Semi-Final Series. The Championship Round will be a Best of 5 Series.
