2004 Harrisonburg Turk Alumni, and St. Louis Cardinal LHP Tyler Norrick made his 2010 spring debut Monday by pitching two scoreless innings against the Red Sox.

The left-handed Norrick grew up in Festus, Missouri and spent his childhood rooting for St. Louis and dreaming of the day he would wear the Cardinals uniform.

A Southern Illinois University Saluki, Norrick was drafted in 2006 in the in the 6th round by the Cardinals. He has worked his way through their minor league system and is in spring training with the Cardinals.

Monday, Tyler got off to a shaky start, walking the first two batters he faced. However, a visit from the Pitching Coach Dave Duncan would prove to settle him down. After that he induced two ground balls, the second good for a double play, to get out of the inning. He came back to the mound the second inning and fanned a three up three down .

Norrick was excited for the opportunity to pitch in front of Coaches Tony LaRussa and Dave Duncan. Working towards that dream of wearing a St. Louis Cardinals uniform is something that he does not take lightly.

The Turks are proud of Tyler and wish him continued success in his baseball career. All of his fans in Harrisonburg will be watching his progress and cheering him on.
