2011 Valley Baseball League Schedule Released

03/01/2011 – Turks Tidbits

Harrisonburg, VA – The Valley Baseball League has released their 2011 schedule. Newcomer Strasburg Express will host the Haymarket Senators on Thursday, June 2nd while the rest of the league will open their season on Friday, June 3rd. The addition of the Strasburg Express brings the league to twelve teams. In an effort to reduce travel expenses and to create geographic rivalries the league has divided into three divisions; the North, Central and South.

The Northern Division consists of the Haymarket Senators, Front Royal Cardinals, Winchester Royals and the Strasburg Express. The Central Division includes the Woodstock River Bandits, Luray Wranglers, New Market Rebels and the Harrisonburg Turks. The Southern Division is the Staunton Braves, Waynesboro Generals, Rockbridge Rapids, and the Covington Lumber Jacks.

During the 44 game schedule, teams will play their divisions eight times a piece and play the rest of the league twice each and a two game series with a geographic opponent. The play-offs will begin on Thursday, July 28th or immediately after all rained out games have been made up. The play-off format will be; Round 1 best two out of three, Round 2 best two out of three, and Championship Series best three out of five. Eight teams will make the play-offs; top two teams in each division and the next two teams with the best record. The three division winners will each host Round 1.

The Valley Baseball League hopes to see all it’s fans out at the ballparks this summer. Check the website www.valleyleaguebaseball.com for team sites, directions, schedules, statistics through out the season.
