Turks Take Win Over River Bandits 3-2 in 11 Innings

Woodstock, VA. – Visiting Harrisonburg wins a tight pitching battle with Woodstock by a 3-2 score. Trailing 2-0 after the ‘Bandits scored twice in the eighth, the Turks tied it with two in the ninth before getting the winning run in the 11th.

Dodson MacPherson scored the winning run by leading off the Harrisonburg 11th with a triple and then coming home on Brock Green’s double.

Tanner Leighton had two hits for Woodstock.

Aaron Luchterhand (Arkansas Tech) pitched 6.0 innings striking out 3, giving up 1 walk and 3 hits. Dominic Sgroi (LaSalle) came in for 3.0 innings striking out 4, giving up 2 hits, and 2 runs. Ryan Chapman (Rio Grande) finished the 10th and 11th innings to strike out 1 and gave up 1 hit to hold on for the Turks.

Dodson McPherson (Wingate) led the Turks going 3-4. Colby Roberts (JMU) was 2-5 with 1 RBI, and Brian Ritz (Indiana) was 1-5 with 1 RBI. Brock Green was 1-5 knocking in the winning run.

The Turks (2-0) return home Sunday night to take on the Luray Wranglers (0-2). Come out to Veterans Memorial Park game time is 7:30 pm.
