06/07/2011 – Turks Tidbits

Woodstock, VA – Harrisonburgs’ Justin Van Grouw held off the River Bandits for six innings striking out eight batters and giving up one run. But in the seventh the right-hander from Wake Forest had one out in the book when Woodstock’s bats came alive and the Bandits’ Bobby Johnson doubled to right field, Brett Lopez drew a walk, Bryan Lucas doubled to center field and drove in the two RBI’s and took the 3-2 lead. Harrisonburg brought in Ryan Chapman (Rio Grande) and the Bandits would put three more runs on the board 6-2 which proved to be the final score of the game.

Brock Green (Ouachita Baptist) was 2 for 4 with an RBI and R.J. Perucki (U. Texas-San Antonio) was 2-3 with an RBI for the Turks. The Turks offense pounded out 10 hits but came up short on the scoreboard for the night.

The Turks (3-1) return home tomorrow night to face the New Market Rebels (3-1). Game time at Veterans Memorial Park is 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night is Boys and Girl Scout Recognition Night. All Scouts wearing their uniforms get in free as the guests of the Turks. Come out and cheer your Turks on to a victory!
