Chris Pike Earns Turk Player of the Week

The Harrisonburg Turks enjoyed a successful week of wins, playing six games and winning five.  In that string of wins, the pitching staff confused and dominated some powerful line-ups.  Right-hander Chris Pike lead the way earning Turks Player of the Week, after earning two wins this week, culminating in a 3-0 win-loss record. His first appearance of the week came against the Waynesboro Generals, in a fight for first place in the South.  Pike delivered 5.0 innings 3 earned-runs on 4 hits and 5 strikeouts.  The Fordham University star, then made an appearance out of the bullpen Saturday night vs. Covington.  Pike’s teammate from Fordham, Ryan Lee, belted a three-run shot helping Pike move to 3-0, after 1.2 innings 1 hit, 0 earned runs, and 3 strikeouts.

The hard-throwing pitcher now has an ERA of 1.96 in 18.1 innings of work, and only 6 walks on 29 strikeouts.  Pike is one of the supremely talented arms the Turks have stocked.  Just a day after his teammate at Fordham University, Ryan Lee, earned Valley League Player of the Week, Chris Pike with 2 wins in a week, earned the honors for the Turks.
