Trio of Demon Deacons Join Turks

Turks Coach Bob Wease continues to look to his Turks Alumni in the college coaching ranks to fill his roster.   Wake Forest Head Coach Tom Walter has come through again in support for his former Harrisonburg Turks.  The Turks would like to feature the following Deamon Deacons that will join the 2013 roster;   James Harris, Connor Kaden and Nathan Jones.

Wake Forest James Harris

James Harris is a 6’2″ 225 power-hitting player from Wake Forest.  He will be playing 3rd base and in the outfield for the Turks this season.  In high school James was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 50th round of the 2010  MLB Draft.  He was also a three-year varsity letterman in baseball.  He saw extensive action during his inaugural campaign, playing in 45 games and making 34 starts.  Tied for the team-lead among freshmen in hits with 27.  He also led all freshmen with a .214 batting average, 19 runs scored, five home runs and a .381 slugging percentage.  James made his collegiate debut in the season opener at LSU on February 18, homered for his first career hit in Game 2 at LSU on February 19, hit safely in five of his first six career ames.  Put together three consecutive two-hit games from March 5-9 against Towson, Radford and Coastal Carolina, respectively.  Of his five home runs, three of them came in three consecutive games.  He ended the year with six multi-hit games.  James is a junior from Woodstock, GA

 

Deacons pitching staff teammates Connor Kaden and Nate Jones will also be joining the 2013 Turks.

Connor Kaden

Connor Kaden is a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Toms River, NJ.  He attended Toms River South high School where he was ranked in the Top 500 according to Perfect Game, and was named All-Conference as a sophomore and junior  He pitched for the New Jersey Marlins in the summer averaging nearly two strikeouts an inning as a junior.  He was ranked in the Top 15 players in the state of New Jersey in the spring of 2011. Kaden made nine appearances and three starts in 11.0 innings on the mound during his freshman campaign at WFU.  He did not allow an earned run in four of his nine appearances.

Nate Jones

Nate Jones is a junior right-handed pitcher from Greenland, NH.  Jones is one of the most reliable relievers for the Deacons out of the bullpen.  Last season Jones posted a 1.12 ERA in 24 appearances and 32 innings pitched.  Twenty-two were relief appearances where he allowed just three earned runs in 24.0 innings  and help his opponents to a .220 batting average.  Jones recorded a 3-0 record on the year.  Jones was a three-year letterman at Portsmouth High School.  He had a career 12-0 record with three saves and a 2.15 ERA.The Turks are excited to have this pair of hurlers from Wake Forest join the 2013 roster.
