For the Valley League, getting players from top ranked teams is difficult for a number of reasons. Indeed its nice to have that big game experience, but there comes inherent risks with it. Those top ranked schools are more likely to play late into June, severely delaying their arrival to the Valley and potentially burying the corresponding team. On the rare occasion, though, the opportunity to secure a player from one of these schools arises. For the Turks, Christopher Barr of the Miami Hurricanes fits that bill.As a freshman in 2013, Barr saw action in 55 games, 29 of them coming as starts. With so many appearances, Barr appeared primarily as a defensive replacement at first and as a pinch runner, stealing seven bases on ten attempts. His .353 on-base percentage, spurred on by 22 walks, helped fuel his 27 runs, landing him at third on the Hurricanes in that category. This past season was a lost one for Barr as he redshirted early on in the spring.
