Pack the Park for Med Express Family Fun Night!

Tonight, July 25, is the last Family Fun Night of the Turks’ 2014 regular season! Bring the whole family out to enjoy the many games and prizes that will be available before and during the game, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Med Express.

Harrisonburg (27-13) only has two home games left before the playoffs begin, so come out and support the Turks as they attempt to clinch the 2014 Valley League pennant! Friday’s home game is against the cross-town rival New Market Rebels; Saturday’s regular season home finale is against the Covington Lumberjacks.

The Turks are the hottest team in the Valley right now, having won eight of their last ten games. First baseman Daniel Nichols, second baseman Thomas Smith, third baseman Matt Rose and right fielder Luke Czajkowski are all hitting over .300 on the season, and a fifth player (left fielder Eric Kalbfleisch) is hitting .297!

With a win on Friday, the Turks inch closer to the 30-win milestone, which they could attain if they sweep through their weekend schedule. A win against New Market on Friday could potentially clinch the pennant, depending on the outcome of the games featuring Front Royal (hosting Woodstock) and Staunton (at Covington). Otherwise, Harrisonburg’s two games with Covington this weekend will decide who the regular season champion is.

Tonight, Tanner Shelton will be awarded his third start of the season. Shelton is still looking for his first decision of the year, but has piled up 18 strikeouts through 22 2/3 innings.

Come out and support the Harrisonburg Turks in their final two regular season games! Both games are scheduled to begin at 7:30pm at Veterans Memorial Park.
