James Madison University pitcher Michael Evans, like so many college pitchers at the end of a long season has found himself with a sore arm that needs rest over the summer. Therefore, Evans won’t be joining the Turks but teammate Eric Yankey, will be taking the open spot Evans leaves.
Eric Yankey, a left-handed pitcher for the JMU Dukes is from Bridgewater, Virginia and was a standout player at Turner Ashby High School. During his freshmen season at JMU, he had 14 appearances, six starts, and pitched 36.2 innings. He went 1-4 with a 6.43 ERA. At Turner Ashby, Yankey was awarded The Valley’s Conference 29 Pitcher of the Year and he was a AAA Second Team All-Region honoree. He posted a 10-1 record with a 0.65 ERA. He struck out 123 batters in 75 2/3 innings and had five complete games including two shutouts.
