Road Runners Join the Turks Roster

Texas San Antonio isn’t letting the Turks down this season. The Turks are excited to announce 2016 Turk Brian Arias will return to Harrisonburg and cover second base at Veterans Memorial Park for another summer. At 6-0, 195 pounds, Arias is a versatile player who switches between second base and shortstop. The rising junior has a .352 batting average in 105 at bats, with 33 runs, 37 hits, 7 doubles, 1 triple, 8 home runs, 25 RBI’s 7 walks, and is 2 for 2 stolen bases. Last summer for the Turks, Arias played in 40 games, the second highest number of appearances out of any Turk. Arias posted a .266 batting average in 139 at bats with 24 runs, 37 hits, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 11 RBI’s and 26 walks. We hope 2017 is another good year for him! Arias is having a very productive spring for the Road Runners so far.

The second of four UTSA players to join the Turks is catcher Tony Beam. Beam is producing for his team this season posting a .370
batting average, starting in 21 of 23 games with 73 at bats, 15 runs, 27 hits, 4 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 8 RBI’s and 9 walks.
The 5-11, 235 pound junior is a native of Texas and we are glad to see him make the journey to Virginia to continue his playing career.

The third player to make the trek to Harrisonburg this summer is UTSA freshman Cade Bullinger. He offers a solid outfield presence combined with an at-bat threat. The 6-4, 190 Bullinger batted 0.400 his senior year of high school.  The young outfielder has seen limited playing time this spring due to a talented and packed senior team. Welcome to the Turks Cade!

The final UTSA RoadRunner on the roster, a 5-10, 165 pound freshman Ben Ostrominski hails from Round Rock, TX. He will have plenty of experience having played with his three teammates by the time the Turks season starts, a good sign for us this summer. The young lefty  is a versatile player being able to pitch and also a threat at the plate. Ostrominski has seen limited pitching this spring but will be ready to contribute to the Turks pitching staff. Safe travels to Harrisonburg Ben!
