Turks Named to the 2018 Valley Baseball League South Roster

2018 Valley Baseball League All-Star Game is this Sunday, July 8th at JMU Veterans Memorial Park in Harrisonburg.  Pre-game activities begin at 3:30.  Batting practice starts at 3:30.  The 60 yard dash and the Home Run Derby begins at 5:20. The inductees of the 2018 Valley Baseball League Hall of Fame will be introduced at 7:15. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. The cost of the game is $5.00 for adults and only $3.00 for kids ages 3 – 12 years of age. Kids wearing their sports uniform tops are admitted free. 

Congratulations to the four players selected to represent the Harrisonburg Turks on the South team in the VBL All-Star Game.

 

 

#21 RHP Kyle Arjona, University of New Orleans …  5’10” 195 lb. R/R senior
Arjona’s numbers this season with the Turks are very impressive. He has a
3-1 record with a 1.31 ERA in 27.1 innings of work on the mound.  Arjona has
fired 33 strike outs, and only given up 22 hits, 6 runs, 4 earned runs and 2 walks.

 

 

 

#29 RHP Rafe Schindler, University of New Orleans … 6′-4″  180 lb., R/R, sophomore
Rafe Schlinder is also Kyle Arjona’s team mate at the U. of New Orleans. Together
the two has made a huge impact for the Turks this season on the mound. Schindler,
the Turks closer has a 2-1 record with a 2.16 ERA in 16.2 innings. He’s thrown 22 strike
outs, and only given up 13 hits, 7 runs and 4 earned runs with 5 walks.

 

 

 

#8  2B Austin Embler, North Carolina- Greensboro … 5’9″ 165 lb,  L/R,  RS senior
Austin Embler returned to Harrisonburg for his second season with the Turks.
Embler’s bat has been hot at the plate this season. The senior is posting a 4.08
batting average in 21 games and 71 at bats. He has scored 14 runs, had 29 hits,
4 doubles, 2 triples and 2 home runs with 15 RBi’s and shown patience with 12 walks.

 

 

 

15  OF Zach Little, Wingate University … 6′  200 lb, R/R, senior
Zach Little has been very consistent in his offense and defense for the Turks this season.
He is hitting .297 in 26 games with 101 at bats. Little has scored 19 runs, had 30 hits,
5 doubles, 1 triple and 11 RBI’s.
