Ellington Returns and Brings Three 49er Teammates to Harrisonburg

We welcome back 2018 LHP Eli Ellington and also three of his teammates from UNC Charlotte. Eli is a 6’4″ 250 junior from Charlotte, NC. He is majoring in Business. He didn’t play the 2018 season for the 49ers as he was a freshman redshirt. During his Senior season at Covenant Day High School Eli posted a 1.90 ERA for the Lions in nine appearances and he struck out 77 in 51.2 innings of work limiting the opposition to a .150 batting average.  Eli had a good summer in Harrisonburg at the VET last summer. He pitched 23 innings with 33 strike outs, and only gave up 16 hits. The Turks are looking forward to another exciting season with Eli on the mound at the VET.

 

Welcome senior Austin Lynch, a 5’10”  192 outfielder from Houston, TX. Austin just transferred from Redlands Community College where he had a .354 BA, 51 hits  10 doubles, 7 triples and 5 home runs. Defensively Austin had a .969 fielding percentage. We are look forward to Austin patrolling the outfield.

 

 

 

The Turks also signed another Charlotte 49er,  5’9” 165 pound junior Jake Whitcomb from Harrisburg, NC. Jake is an outfielder/infielder  who appeared in 31 games making 11 starts with a .283 average during his 2018 season. Over 46 at bats he scored 8 runs and collected 13 hits and had a .327 on base percentage. He had a fielding percentage of .933, with 14 put outs in the outfield. We welcome Jake to Harrisonburg and JMU Veterans Memorial Park.

 

 

Welcoming our fourth Charlotte 49er, is 6’2” 175 pound junior infielder, Tate Pennington from Waxhaw NC. . Tate is majoring in Business Admin. During the 2018 season Tate made 17 starts among his 28 appearances hitting .250 with three doubles and nine RBI. in his first collegiate at-bat Tate roped the first pitch down the left field line for a double! We are looking forward to Tate joining the Turks this summer!
