The Major League Baseball draft has come to a close as all 40 rounds have been completed. 1,217 selections were made allowing many dreams to come true for baseball players across the nation. The Harrisonburg Turks are proud to announce that five of our former players were drafted this week.
2017 Turks catcher, Kyle McCann of Georgia Tech, was selected in the fourth round by the Oakland A’s. The 6’2, 217 pounds powerhouse  catcher made his mark at Georgia Tech. McCann finished his season at Georgia Tech with a batting average of 0.327 with 66 runs, 83 hits, and 75 RBIs.

 

2019 Turks right-handed pitcher, Bryce Milligan of Oklahoma City, was picked by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 19th round. The junior received First-Team NAIA All-American and First-Team All-Sooner Athletic Conference, as well as four SAC Pitcher of the Week recognition. On the mound, Milligan finished the season 11-2 with an ERA of 1.94, 113 strikeouts, four complete games, and two shutouts.

Bryan Arias, the 2016-2017 Turks second baseman/shortstop from University of Texas San Antonio, was picked in the 28th round by the Houston Astros. The senior received Third-Team Preseason All-American for this season from the BCBWA and was voted Preseason All-Conference USA. Arias finished the season with a 0.321 batting average, scoring 27 runs, accumulating 61 hits, and bringing in 20 runners.

 

Oklahoma City’s Elliott Cary played for the Turks in 2017 in the outfield and was drafted in the 29th round by the Detroit Tigers. Cary had been previously selected by the Washington Nationals in the 32nd round of the 2014 Amateur Entry Draft. The senior finished his season for the Stars with a .303 batting average, accumulating 62 runs, 64 hits, and 75 RBIs. He received First-Team All-SAC and a SAC gold glove for his performance.

 

2017 Turks left-handed pitcher, Carter Bach, of Wake Forest was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 34th round. The 6’7, 230 pounds pitcher won 12 games for the Demon Deacons for the 2019 season. Bach finished the season with an ERA of 4.70 striking out 21 batters.

 

The Turks are extremely happy for these young men and are proud of their accomplishments. We wish them continued success as they have the opportunity to keep pursuing their dream. Turks fans will continue cheering these five athletes on!
