Turks Return Home Without the Win

Waynesboro, Va. – The Harrisonburg Turks out hit the Waynesboro Generals but were unable to get the win on the road. The Generals’ victory was powered by two home runs and they won the game 6-4.

The Turks took an early lead scoring two runs in the first inning. Aaron Levy hit a double to left field advancing Caston Peter and allowing Cole McNamee to score for the Turks. Jack Roberts then singled to right field and Caston Peter came around to score.

In the bottom of the second the Generals took the lead back from the Turks. Jack Murphy was able to score off a Connor Norby single. Kobe Lopez then stepped up and hit a double to center field and Bryson Worrell and Connor Norby scored putting the Generals up 3-2.

The Turks came back and tied the game in the top of the 4th. Nick Zona was grounded out at first base but Immanuel Wilder scored for the Turks.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Jack Roberts subbed in for starting pitcher Jacob Edwards. Edwards threw in three innings, allowing four hits, giving up three earned runs, threw six strikeouts and one walk. Edwards ended the night with a 5.69 ERA.

Later in the inning, Bryson Worrell blasted a home run for Waynesboro to take the lead once again at 4-3.

The Turks responded in the top of the fifth inning with a run of their own. Jack Roberts once again singled towards center field and Caston Peter crossed home plate to tie the game.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Turks made another pitching substitution. Cam Grimes checked in for Jack Roberts. Roberts received a 1.88 ERA pitching in three innings, getting two strikeouts, two walks, giving up four hits and one earned run.

The Generals scored the winning runs in the bottom of the seventh. Jack Murphy was able to advance to second off a wild pitch. Jackson Tate hit a home run and him and Murphy rounded the plates to put Waynesboro up 6-4.

Cam Grimes got the loss on the night. He threw in two innings only allowing one hit and two earned runs. He threw two strikeouts and posted a 9.00 ERA.

The Turks (12-12) will face the Charlottesville Tom Sox (14-9) on Tuesday at Eagle Field.
