Two Oregon Ducks to Take the Field at Veterans Memorial Park

Former 1992 Turks third baseman, Mark Wasikowski, head coach at U of Oregon is sending two  of his Ducks across the country to play for the Turks this summer. Over his coaching career, Coach Wasikowski, has entrusted players to Coach Wease during the summer season from Purdue, Florida and Arizona. 

Jack Scanlon, moved across country from his home in Suffern, N.Y. to play for Oregon. The right-hand freshman catcher is 6-4 and 202 pounds. Scanlon was a four-year letterman at Suffern High School.  He was ranked ninth overall and third among catchers in New York by Perfect Game, and ranked 51st catcher nationally by Perfect Game. Scanlon earned a number of accolades during his high school career. He was named Rockland Player of the Year his senior year and named to the Rockland Baseball All-County Team as a utility player after excelling both behind the plate and on the mound. He also earned first-team all-state honors and first-team All-League team as both a junior and senior.  As a senior, Scanlon batted .412 with four home runs, 33 RBI, three triples and 26 walks, while on the mound he finished 5-0 with a 1.43 ERA and two saves, while striking out 67 batters in 49 innings pitched. During the summer of 2018 he played for the Irish National Team and threw a complete game, fanning 11 in a 9-2 victory over Germany.

Freshman Anthony Hall is 6-2 and 202 pounds. The first baseman is from San Diego, CA. As a four-year letterman at Point Loma High School, Hall posted a .366 batting average with a .472 OBP, four home runs, three triples, 12 doubles and 33 RBI. He was named first-team All-San Diego City Conference Eastern League and second-team All-CIF San Diego Section. Scanlon was selected in the 35th round (1,057th overall) of the 2019 draft by the Atlanta Braves.

 

In Oregon’s opening weekend Scanlon batted .333  with 6 at bats, 2 runs, 2 hits, 1 double and 3 walks. Hall batted .333 in 12 at bats, 3 runs, 4 hits, and 1 triple and 2 walks.
