Turks Sweep Double Header

New Market- The Turks were back on the road once again, as they traveled to New Market to face the Rebels. Harrisonburg posted a road win Wednesday night against Aldie after scoring late in the game. Kevin Lewallyn (Duke) was given the ball in the first of two seven-inning games. Starting on the mound for the Rebels was Sean Cunningham.

The Turks started a two-out rally in the first inning. Daniel Nichols (Georgia) worked himself a walk before Matt Rose (Georgia State) was hit on the first pitch he saw to place runners on first and second. Eric Kalbfliesh (UNCG) roped a line drive up the middle to score Nichols from second. After the first half-inning, it was 1-0.

Joey Roach (Georgia State) started the second inning with a double. Steven McLean (Baylor) followed behind Roach with a walk. Thomas Smith (Georgia State) continued his hot hitting with a double, scoring Roach from second and moving McLean to third. Continue reading “Turks Sweep Double Header”

It was a humid, overcast day in Aldie, Virginia. Not even the impeding thunderstorm warning could keep the teams off the field. The Turks are looking to get back on the winning side of the score column after a tough late inning loss last night to Charles Town. Tonight, the Turks are taking on the Aldie Senators. Turks Home Runs Power A Win

The rain had cleared as the Harrisonburg Turks were ready to take on the Winchester Royals. The Turks drove back to Winchester today to complete a rained out game. Tonight, there was no rain and the forecast and the Turks were ready! After winning a few home games in extra innings, the Turks continue to lead the league with 23 wins. Manager Bob Wease sent right-hander Boone Mokry(UTSA) to the bump to continue the hot Turks. The Winchester Royals sent Brian Fortier to the mound.

The Turks got on the board early as Thomas Spitz (Wingate) crushed a 400 foot home run down the left field line that bounced on the softball field beyond the fence in the top of the first inning. After a one out walk to Daniel Nichols (Georgia), Matt Rose destroyed a fastball that cleared the 386 sign in center field. Continue reading “Turks Home Runs Power A Win”

Turks Out Slugged 6-1

It was another beautiful scenic night in Charles Town, West Virginia as the Charles Town Cannons hosted the Harrisonburg Turks. The Turks were rained out Tuesday night against the Winchester Royals when a severe storm came through Northern Virginia.
