The Harrisonburg Turks have an opportunity for you. Interns with the Turks learn what it takes to run a baseball club on a daily basis.

The administrative staff of the Turks are at work year round. The Valley Baseball League season is an action packed 42 game schedule that includes 21 home games, a League All Star game, and possible play-off games. Interns are only required to attend and work the home games. Spring and summer internships run from January through the second week in August. These are non-paying positions.

Internships available in the following fields:

Game Day Intern

Ideal person will be energetic, friendly, outgoing, good with dealing with the public and being in front of crowds.

Job duties will include: Game Day Operations, On Field Promotions, Turks Promotional Events, could include being “Gill” the Turks mascot during the games and possibly appearances, could possibly include working with concessions, souvenirs, and ticket sales.

Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Suite,  with priority given to those with fluency in Adobe InDesign and PhotoShop or similar programs. Knowledge of social media trends is a must. Understanding of WordPress, Google Drive and Hangouts is a plus.

Communications Intern  –  

Ideal person will have good verbal and writing skills, be attentive to details, have an outgoing personality.

Job duties will include writing home game summary articles, articles on Turks promotional events, writing feature articles on Turks, and press releases to be sent back to players schools. Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Word, knowledge of Microsoft Access 2013, Adobo Suite, InDesign/PhotoShop (have your own program or access to it also) or Publisher, social media; Facebook and Twitter.
*** Projects

-Turks marketing and promotional projects that involve writing and or/community relations.

Broadcasting Intern  – 

Ideal person will be outgoing and interested in baseball, broadcasting and/or sports writing. Job duties will include: Writing, research, on-air broadcasting, interviewing and other baseball-related projects as assigned.

-Game summaries, player and coach profiles

*** Broadcasting 

-21 home games on the internet web cast.

*** Research

-Preseason player and coach research, opponent research, Valley League and Turks basic History research.

-In season statistical research (web), trends, observations etc……

*** Interviewing

-Player and coach interviews mostly live, some prerecorded

Videographer and Photography Intern    –   

Ideal person will have knowledge of how to video games and make video game recaps for the website and social media.  Job duties will include videoing post game interviews, create promotional videos to be used on social media.

Candidate should have access to their own camera and be able to take good action shots during home games.
