Northern Division: The player of the week for the Northern Division was Will Clark (St. Andrews Presbyterian) with the New Market Rebels. The junior second baseman batted .424 during the opening week with 14 hits including one double, one triple, four RBI and five runs scored. Clark has a .515 slugging percentage and a .472 on-base percentage so far this season. Clark has multi-hit games in six of the eight games that he has started for New Market. The pitcher of the week for the Northern Division was junior southpaw Frank Gailey (West Chester) of the New Market Rebels. Gailey earned two wins this week, to start out 2-0 on the season with wins over Staunton and Woodstock. He sporting a 0.69 ERA after throwing 13 innings this week, allowing six hits, only one earned run, walking only two while striking out 14. Batters are only hitting .133 off of the Golden Ram, a league low. Southern Division: This week there are co-players of the week for the Southern Division, Covington Lumberjacks freshman right fielder/ designated hitter Matthew Bounds (Louisiana Lafayette) and junior catcher Adam Hutchins (Lander University) with the Generals of Waynesboro. Bounds batted .308 this past week with eight hits, three doubles, three RBI and three runs scored. Hutchins batted .310 with nine hits, one home run, four RBI and eight runs scored during the opening week. The pitcher of the week honors for the Southern Division was shared by Harrisonburg Turks freshman starter Stephen Ochs (Florida State) and Waynesboro Generals junior starter Scott Massey (UT-Martin). Ochs made two starts this past week, shutting down his opponent’s offense and earning wins against Front Royal and New Market. Ochs is the only pitcher to register a win against the Rebels so far this season. Ochs has a league-low 0.00 ERA, pitching 12 innings on the week while giving up six hits, no runs, four walks and fanned 12. Massey also is 2-0 on the season with wins against Front Royal and Haymarket. The UT-Martin Sky Hawk has a 0.56 ERA while pitching 16 innings. Massey only has allowed one run to score, off of 11 hits, four walks and struck out 12 batters for the Generals.
