By SCOTT McAVOY Special Correspondent Costly errors committed by Harrisonburg infielders have hurt the Turks all season. Last night, they cost them another game. "We win two-to-nothing if we don’t commit those errors in the third inning," Harrisonburg manager Bob Wease said. New Market scored three runs, all unearned, thanks to three Turks errors in the third inning to defeat Harrisonburg 3-2, in a Valley League baseball game at Memorial Stadium. The Turks fell to 4-6 with their third straight loss. The Rebels (9-1) maintained first place in the VBL’s North Division with their seventh straight win. "Our pitchers played well, but we didn’t execute in the field," left fielder Scott Cousins said. Cousins executed at the plate, nonetheless. He was 3-for-3, with a run and a stolen base. "We’re just in a mental funk right now, so we can’t get down on ourselves and lose focus," right fielder Lucas Delong said. Delong, the Turks’ cleanup hitter, went 3-for-4 with three singles. The Turks committed seven errors in their 11-3 loss at Haymarket Sunday night, and six the day before in an 11-0 loss to Luray. "I can only let them play through it," Wease said. "I want them to believe in themselves, and not play scared after committing an error." Second baseman Will Clark (St. Andrews Presbyterian), designated hitter Chris O’Dell (Eastern Kentucky), and right fielder Dustin Roberts (West Alabama) scored the Rebel runs, sealing.
