The Harrisonburg Turks have announced their six players that will represent the team in the 2005 Valley Baseball League All-Star game on Sunday, July 10th. The three Turks position players are: Jeff Carroll, Sophomore from Ohio State University. Jeff is a 6’3" 200 lb. L/L Pitcher/1B from Worthington, Ohio .319 BA, 14-11 GP-GS, 47 AB, 5 R, 15 H, 1 2B, 8 RBI, 5 BB, 12 SO, .988 fielding % Scott Cousins, Sophomore from the University of San Francisco. Scott is a 6’2" 190 lb. L/L Pitcher/Outfielder from Reno, Nevada. .396 BA, 13-13 GP-GS, 53 AB, 8 R, 21 H, 2 2B, 3 3B, 1 HR, 7 RBI, 5 BB, 8 SO, 5-6 SB/ATT, 1.00 fielding % Lucas Delong, Sophomore from the University of San Francisco. Lucas is a 6’2" 215 lb. R/R Outfielder from Sporks, Nevada. .275 BA, 24-22 GP-GS, 91 AB, 18 R, 25 H, 4 2B, 3 3B, 2 HR, 14 RBI, 6 BB, 28 SO, 9-10 SB/Att, .920 fielding % The three Turks pitchers are: Shawn Benson, Freshman from Yavapai Junior College. Shawn is a 5’11" 212 lb. R/R Pitcher from Pearl City, Hawaii. 1.76 ERA, 2-1, 30.2 innings, 21 H, 8 R, 6 ER, 19 BB, 35 SO Sean Jarrett, Junior from the University of Arizona. Sean is a 6’5" 190 lb. R/R Pitcher from Limon, Colorado. 2.04 ERA, 2-0, 17.2 innings, 17 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 7 BB, 14 SO Stephen Ochs, Freshman from Florida State University. Stephen is a 6’1" 185 lb. L/L Pitcher from Marietta, Georgia. 1.67 ERA, 2-1, 27.0 innings, 24 H, 7 R, 5 ER, 8 BB, 26 SO The game will be hosted by the Winchester Royals and played at Bridgeforth Stadium in Winchester, Virginia. Pre-game activities begin at 4:00 p.m. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The Turks will team up with the Covington Lumberjacks, Staunton Braves, Waynesboro Generals, and the Woodstock River Bandits to make up the Southern Division All-Stars. They will face the Northern Division made up of the Front Royal Cardinals, Luray Wranglers, New Market Rebels and the Winchester Royals. The VBL All-Star game will be telecast on local Channel 14 WAZT TV a week later on Sunday, July 17th.
