Rawlings NJCAA Division II Baseball Gold Glove Awards Announced Congratulstions to 2007 Harrisonburg TURK, Sammy Lee, sophomore center fielder from Redlands Community College in Oklahoma. Lee was one of nine two-year college baseball players honored by Rawlings for their outstanding defensive play this season by winning the first-ever Rawlings Gold Glove Awards for NJCAA Division II Baseball. The Rawlings Gold Glove Award is the benchmark of excellence and performance in the field for major leaguers. However, beginning in 2007 the award will now also symbolize the best of the best at the collegiate and high school levels. This year, college and high school players flashing serious leather have the opportunity to win the inaugural Collegiate and High School Rawlings Gold Glove Awards as Rawlings celebrates its 50th year of the Rawlings Gold Glove Award. In partnership with the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), Rawlings is presenting the first-ever Rawlings Gold Glove Awards to players in NCAA Divisions I, II, and III; NAIA; NJCAA Divisions I, II, and III; and High School. Sammy Lee, center fielder for Redlands posted a .991 fielding percentage. In 111 chances he recorded 107 putouts, three assists and one error. The Redlands Cougars were the Region 2 Champions. The TURKS welcome Sammy to Harrisonburg for a great summer of baseball and wish him continued success.
