6/29/2007 – Troy U. Athletics

Robinson Named to ABCA All-American Team Written By Jason Wright “Setting the new records and etching my name in the history of the baseball program made my senior year something I will never forget and it feels good to be thought of as one of the best players in all of college baseball.” Clint Robinson OMAHA, Neb.-The American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Sporting Goods announced the 2007 All-America teams and Troy stand-out Clint Robinson added another page to his impressive book of accomplishments during the 2007 season. Robinson, a first team All-Sun Belt selection, led the entire Trojan hitting staff in all of the power categories. He blasted 17 home runs while tallying 71 RBI. Robinson also led the team in hits, runs, doubles, slugging percentage, and total bases while setting several new school records in multiple categories. “I feel honored to be named to the All-American team by the coaches in college baseball because they are probably the hardest to impress,” Robinson said. “I worked hard this season to help the team to get to the post-season and I am very honored to be on the list.” Robinson set new school records in games played, at bats, runs scored, hits, total bases, hit-by-pitch, and times intentionally walked. He also ranks second in doubles, fifth in triples, fourth in home runs, and second in RBI. Robinson was selected in the 25th round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft by the Kansas City Royals. “This season was fun although we didn’t win the way that we wanted to,” Robinson said. “Setting the new records and etching my name in the history of the baseball program made my senior year something I will never forget and it feels good to be thought of as one of the best players in all of college baseball.” The ABCA named David Price from Vanderbilt University as the 2007 ABCA/Rawlings Division I Player of the Year. In selecting the winner, the ABCA considers both performance on the field and value to the team. Price was chosen as the first player in the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The ABCA All-America Teams are collegiate baseball’s oldest selections, dating to 1949. All Division I coaches have the opportunity to nominate and vote on these selections, which are initially compiled into eight All-Region teams. These teams are then finalized as the first, second and third All-America teams by the ABCA’s NCAA Division I All-America and Coach of the Year Committee. This year, the committee selected 59 players as 2007 ABCA All-Americans.
