Turks Beat Senators, 10-1

7/09/2007 – Turk Tidbits

Written By Jessica Merrill James Madison University Sports Management Intern Harrisonburg, Va., July 9, 2007 – After what became a heated game last Friday night, the Haymarket Senators returned to Veteran’s Memorial Stadium once again yesterday night. The Turks started things off on a good note tonight scoring six runs in the bottom of the first inning. It was smooth sailing through the ninth inning for Harrisonburg as they continued to build their lead to a 10-1 win over the Senators. Right fielder Robert Talyor (Ingram, Texas/Ark-Little Rock) hit a home run to contribute to that score, as well as did catcher Mike Pericht (Orland Park, Illhttps://harrisonburgturks.com/NewsManager/Saint Joseph) who hit a 3-run homer into left field. Other big contributors included shortstop Ryan Wood (Woodbridge, Vahttps://harrisonburgturks.com/NewsManager/East Carolina) who went 1-for-2 on the night with 2 runs scored, and third/first baseman Brett Stewart (Niceville, Flahttps://harrisonburgturks.com/NewsManager/Appalachian State) who went 1-for-3 with 1 run scored and 2 RBIs. As the playoffs begin to move within sight of the Turks’ future, they hold on tight to second place behind the Waynesboro Generals. The Turks will look for another win tonight as they travel to face the Woodstock River Bandits at 7:30PM.
