Written By Graham Brock James Madison University Sports Management Intern The Turks from Oklahoma City University are continuing to play great baseball. Pitcher Garret Parker has struck out 24 hitters in just 15 innings pitched in 9 different appearances this season. Outfielder David Mann has a .378 batting average, hitting 6 homeruns with 20 runs batted in. While outfielder Landon Camp is also continuing great play hitting 6 homeruns with 24 runs batted in this season. He has a .318 batting average to go along with these great slugging numbers. A returning pair of 2007 Turks and team mates from St. Joseph’s College is making a statement. Catcher, Mike Pericht has been playing great baseball as well. He is batting .342 with 3 doubles and 4 homeruns. He has accumulated 12 runs batted in as well. Right hand pitcher, Chase Sonen was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of Mar. 3-9. For the season, Sonen is 2-1 with a 4.91 earned-run average, and has a current streak of 12 straight scoreless innings. Joshua Storm from Troy University has pitched well in 6 appearances with a 0.00 era and 12 strikeouts. Bethune Cookman University’s right hand-pitcher, Eric Thomas, has been impressive as well. In three appearances and 20 innings of work, Thomas has posted a 2.25 era, a 2-0 record with 12 strike outs and 5 earned runs With the way these players are playing they will be the ones to keep an eye on during the upcoming 2008 Turks season.
