05/22/2008 – Turks Tidbits
During the years 2006 and 2007, all of the Harrisonburg Turks fans were in awe of David "Moose" Dennis for his outstanding performance on the field and loved him for his teddy bear personality off the field. Listening to fans around town, they’re already talking about how things won’t be the same this year without Dennis here for us to make our "Moose" calls to announce his presence and cheer him on. However, the Turks fans are extremely happy and very proud of David’s accomplishments this year at Oklahoma City University again both on the field and in the classroom. Dennis, a senior first baseman from El Cajon, CA, was named to ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District baseball team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America and was named to the All-District 6 College Division Second Team. Dennis made his mark on the field as well, starting all 64 games, hitting .409 in 257 at bats, with 73 runs and 105 hits, 23 doubles, 1 triple, 27 home runs, and knocking in 106 RBIs. Oklahoma City University clinched the NAIA Mid-South Super Regional crown. The fifth-ranked Stars (55-10) enter the NAIA World Series as super regional champion. The World Series will be May 23-30 in Lewiston, Idaho. Harrisonburg fans will definitely be watching the Major League draft and cheering for our friend, David Dennis. No matter what life unfolds for "Moose", he will always hold a special place in the hearts of TURKS fans! Congratulations and continued success to you David!
