Written By Andy May Broadcasting Intern Bridgewater college Harrisonburg – Despite a stellar effort by right-hander Chase Sonen, (Saint Joseph’s) the Harrisonburg Turks lose on opening day 7-1 to the Luray Wranglers. Sonen pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings, but the Turks who had just 14 players available, were unable to produce runs. Left-hander Travis Smink (VMI) of Luray held the Turks to one fourth inning run. Corey Johnson, (South Florida) led the attack for the Wranglers with three singles and Jordan Yost went 1-2 with a single and a walk. Daniel Heatwole, (Hagerstown CC, Turner Ashby HS) knocked in the Turks only run. Tim Wheeler (Troy) will pitch for Harrisonburg (0-1) who travels to Waynesboro on Sunday. Luray (1-0) hosts Winchester tomorrow.
