Ali Simpson – Earns Freshman All-American Honors

All-MEAC First Team Players Earn Lousiville Slugger All-American Team Honor

Ali Simpson (18) was 9-2 in 2009 with a 3.23 ERA and ended the year with 7 straight wins and a no-decision at NCAA’s. Simpson was named Freshman All-American this week.

LHP Ali Simpson from Bethune Cookman University was honored today being named to Louisville Slugger Baseball America – 2009 NCAA Division 1 All-Freshman Team.

Last month Simpson was named to the first team All-MEAC honor squad. Simpson and his team mates won their fourth straight MEAC champsionship and NCAA regional bid – ending the year 32-28 with two heart-breaking 8-7 losses in the Gainesville Regional. Simpson was 9-2 in 2009 with a 3.23 ERA, striking out 79 batters in 75.1 innings. Simpson allowed 68 hits and only 14 extra base hits all season long and had an ERA of under 2.00 for most of the season, ending with seven straight wins and a no-decision at NCAA Regionals last week. The 2009 Harrisonburg Turks of the Valley Baseball League welcome LHP Ali Simpson, and three of his Bethune-Cookman teammates; RHP Rayan Gonzales, LHP Roman Lancara, and LHP Joey Munoz to an exciting summer of baseball in Virginia.
