Strasburg Joins the Valley Baseball League

The Valley Baseball League Will Welcome Strasburg for the 2011 Season Written by Megan Kogut James Madison University Intern At the January Valley Baseball meeting, the Board of Directors voted and accepted a 12th team for the 2011 summer season. The Fauquier Gators were sold to Strasburg. The name is yet to be determined but Strasburg has decided that the team color will be purple. The town of Strasburg is centrally located on the I-81 corridor making Strasburg a perfect fit for the Valley Baseball League. Strasburg will also be celebrating its 250th anniversary in 2011, making the home opener part of the town’s celebration. Also at the January meeting, the VBL Board of Directors approved the sale of the Waynesboro Generals. Jerry Carter sold the team back to the previous owner Jim Critizer and his new partner David Gauldin Jr. Critizer was the owner of the Generals from 2000-2008.
