All-Star Information

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Valley Baseball League has announced its selections for its annual All-Star game to be hosted by the Harrisonburg Turks on Sunday, July 11 at Eagle Field in Veterans Memorial Park on James Madison University’s campus.

The annual game, which pits players selected from the six southern-most teams in the league against a squad chosen from the five northern-most teams, will feature 25-team squads and free substitution.

General Admission for the All-Star game is as follows:

Adults $5.00

Senior Citizens $2.00

Children 12 and under $1.00

Schedule of Events:

3:00 Pre-game Meal – players & coaches

4:00 – 4:40 Home Team Batting Practice (South)

4:40 – 5:20 Visiting Team Batting Practice (North)

5:30 – 6:00 Home Run Derby Contest

6:00 – 6:30 60 Yard Dash contest

6:30 – 6:45 Home Team Infield (South)

6:45 – 7:00 Visiting Team Infield

7:00 – 7:15 Field Preparation (North)

7:15 – 7:30 Player Introductions

7:30 All Star Game begins

In addition to the game, a 60-yard dash competition and a home run derby will be held. Ten players, five from each half of the league, will take part in the home run derby.

All 12 teams are represented in the game by at least one pitcher and one field player.

Turks manager Bob Wease will head up the South team and Ryan Fecteau of Haymarket will manage the North team. The managers of the league’s other nine teams will serve as assistant coaches for their respective squads.

Greg Van Sickler was originally selected to the North team but will be unable to participate due to injury.
