Cooper Claims Week 5 Player of the Week

07/13/2010 – Turks Tidbits

Shaun Cooper (Pima C.C.) claims back to back Weeks 4 and 5 Turks Player of the Week awards. In a short Week 5, Cooper was 4 for 11, 4 RBI, one 2B, one walk and one steal.

Shaun was also named South All-Star MVP for his triple and one RBI in the game, a 3rd-place finish in the Home Run Contest and was selected to the Mid-Atlantic Classic All-Star team that will travel to Bethesda, MD on Wednesday to play the Cal Ripken League All-Stars.

In Week 4, Cooper continued his season power surge with 3 more home runs and 5 RBIs. Cooper leads the Valley League in long-balls with 8 and is 2nd in runs knocked in with 21.

Shaun attributes his improvement from last summer with the Turks to seeing more action this year when he transferred from U. of Arizona to Pima C.C. He’s also spent a great deal of time in the weight room, his home-away-from-home when not on the baseball field. Shaun will transfer to the U. of Utah this fall and hopes to continue to build on his success this summer.
