CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Harrisonburg Turks have improved their national ranking by three positions in summer league baseball rankings released Wednesday by Perfect Game.
The Turks, who improved to 17-5 with a 7-0 Central Division win over Luray Tuesday night, are the No. 7 team in the Perfect Game rankings this week.
Harrisonburg was one of three VBL teams in last week’s initial rankings of the 2011 summer season, coming in at No. 10.
Front Royal and Winchester joined the Turks in last week’s rankings with Front Royal at No. 22 and Winchester among the ‘others under consideration’ category.
This week, the Cards drop into the under consideration section with the Royals dropping out.
Harwich (Mass.) of the Cape Cod League is No. 1 this week after coming in at No. 8 last week.
Last week’s No. 1, Hyannis (Mass.) of the CCL, is No. 5 this week.
Harrisonburg is back in action tonight with a 7:30 home contest against Central opponent Woodstock.
Perfect Game ranks the top 25 games in collegiate summer baseball each week. The rankings are published on Tuesday or Wednesday and take under consideration the games from Tuesday through Monday of the previous week.
