Turks Explode for 13 Runs, Beat Jacks

Harrisonburg, VA – Brendan Venter’s eighth-inning, bases-loaded triple broke a tie and helped Harrisonburg knock off Covington 13-4 in Valley Baseball League action on Thursday at Veterans Memorial Park.

Venter, who plays his college ball at Auburn, came to the plate with the game knotted at 4. After Venter’s game-breaking hit, the Turks (14-17) tacked on six more runs to complete the nine-run frame.

Harrisonburg’s Bryan Arias, a current Texas-San Antonio Roadrunner, had two hits, including a three-run homer in the same eighth inning.

Covington is now a league worst 9-21.
