A Star, an OCU Star Joins the Turks

NAIA Oklahoma City University has been a pipeline for Harrisonburg over the years since Stars Assistant Coach Keith Lytle coached the Turks in 1989 and again in 1991 when the Turks won the VBL Championship and 1992 when twenty one of the twenty two players on the team were drafted. This summer the Turks are excited to welcome 5’ 10” 185 pound red-shirt junior outfielder Quinton Walbergh.

An Edmond, Ok native, Walbergh began his college career at Oklahoma University before transferring to NAIA Oklahoma City this year. As a freshman he played in 20 games including 8 starts at third base. The summer of his freshman year he played in the California Collegiate League for the San Luis Obispo Blues. He hit a team leading .468 with a .426 on base percentage. His sophomore year he made 7 starts at third base. Last year Walbergh hit .260 with two home runs and nine rbi’s, three doubles and two triples last year for the Sooners.

So far for the Stars this spring Walbergh has hit .263 with 6 starts in 6 games with 19 at bats. 5 run, 5 hits, 2 home runs, 6 rbi’s, a .391 on-base percentage and a .579 slugging percentage.

OCU Coach Keith Lytle says that Quinton is a tremendous ball player and can play multiple positions. “Quinton comes from a baseball family and has great baseball IQ. He’s a coaches ultimate player. He’s a very coachable guy and he’s a leader on the field. Bob will love him.”

Welcome to Harrisonburg Quinton.
