The Turks game vs. the Waynesboro Generals was postponed due to inclement weather. The game had the looks of a shootout as the Turks held a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the 3rd inning

The Generals got the scoring started early against Turks starting pitcher Ben Sieracki with a leadoff single followed by a 6 pitch walk and a double steal which set the stage for Waynesboro’s 3 hole hitter Pearce Howard. Howard would hit a ball out to deep left for a sac fly. Sieracki would settle down to strike out the final two hitters to end the inning.

The Turks were able to respond right back in the bottom half of the inning. Peyton Crispin would hit a 1 out single to get the bats rolling. After a Frederic Walter K, the Turks put together two-out magic that was started by 1st baseman Jordan Sweeney who would launch a double off the left-field wall to score Crispin from first. Travis Reifsnider would follow up the double with a single to right that scored Sweeney and on the first pitch of the AB Connor Hartigan launched a double to right-center that scored the runner from first and gave the Turks the 3-1 lead.

Waynesboro would waste no time tying the game back up. After an error let the leadoff hitter reach base the Generals catcher Matt Stinebiser would hit a triple into the right-field corner to score the runner. The next Waynesboro hitter would ground out for the second out but brought in the tying run in the process.

After the first two batters in the bottom of the 2nd got out the Turk’s lead-off hitter Derek Crum would start a two-out rally with a single and subsequently followed it up with a stolen base. Afterward, on a 2-0 count Crispin would get his 2nd single of the day and give the Turks the lead back at 4-3.

Sieracki would then pitch around two 2 out singles to leave the Generals scoreless for the inning before the game would get postponed. The game will start back up with the Turks 5 hitter up in the bottom of the 3rd on a date TBD.

The Harrisonburg Turks (2-0) are back in action tomorrow in their first road game of the year vs. the Covington Lumberjacks (0-2) at 7:30 PM at Casey Field.
