The Franklin County High School graduate was a New York Mets catcher for 12 seasons.

“Ron Hodges, who made it all the way from Franklin County to the major leagues, died Friday at the age of 74.
Hodges died at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a short illness, Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz told The Associated Press. Hodges had been living in Franklin County.
Casey Hodges, one of Hodges’ sons, confirmed his father’s death to The Roanoke Times but declined further comment.
Ron Hodges was a Mets catcher for all 12 of his major-league seasons. He played for the Mets from 1973 to 1984.
When The Roanoke Times visited Hodges and his wife at their Franklin County home in 2008, their living room featured a framed display of the many baseball cards he appeared on during his Mets career. The living room was filled with Mets memorabilia, from a painting of Ron to a photo of him with then-teammate Willie Mays to the bat he used in the 1973 World Series.”
