Bob Wease was named the 2002 Valley Baseball League Coach of the Year by the media that covered the season. In his first year as Head Coach, Wease led the TURKS to a 25-15 record, only one game behind the Southern Division Champions, Covington Lumberjacks. Wease gave his outstanding pitching staff credit for carrying them during the season. Our bats came up short in the end. The TURKS lost to the Lumberjacks in the semi-finals 3-1. “All in all it was a great season. We had a talented bunch of guys to work with. They were first class players both on and off the field.”.
