A.M. Chatter Daily Dose Marcus Helton The World Series will have some ties to the area this year — two Valley Baseball League alumni will participate in the Fall Classic. Shortstop Adam Everett (Winchester, 1996) and outfielder Luke Scott (Staunton ’99) will both take the field for Houston as the Astros try to win their first World Series title. Overall, four other former Valley League players participated in this year’s Major League playoffs; St. Louis shortstop David Eckstein (Harrisonburg ’95-’96) and outfielder Reggie Sanders (Winchester, ’87), Los Angeles outfielder Steve Finley (Harrisonburg, ’85) and Yankees catcher, John Flaherty (Front Royal, ’87).
